Performance Packages and Ticketing Costs Explained

Each semester, we look forward to seeing all of the hard work our staff and students have put into our Winter Showcase and Annual Recital on the Braswell High School Theater stage!! Our goal is to have the showcase be an enjoyable, exciting family event that teaches our students the importance of preparation, focus, teamwork and commitment. We also work very hard in securing a venue that offers a convenient time and location. Since performance venues are extremely difficult to reserve, dance studios often must hold recitals on weeknights, in many cases in a location which conflicts with school and work, and also makes it difficult for family and friends to attend. While weekend bookings do cost more than a Monday afternoon, for example, and require securing dates a year in advance, it is a priority that the recital also be convenient for our families.

A Heartfelt Thank You on our 11th Annual Dance Recital

First and foremost, we want to express our sincere appreciation for your incredible support during this time. The outpouring of support for small businesses in general, and the support for the two of us as your studio owners is overwhelmingly appreciated as we navigate recent challenges and circumstances. Like many of you, we found ourselves weighted with incredibly increased responsibility during a period of uncertainty and rapid change. As we worked to navigate a huge pivot in the way we serve our studio families, absorb the weight of our responsibility to our dedicated employees, and navigate the changes in daily life for our own individual households with seven children of varied ages and needs, your tremendous support and adaptability has been overwhelming and is absolutely appreciated beyond words.

‘Twas the Night Before Recital

''Twas the night before recital, all is quiet and sound. All the costumes are pressed, not a wrinkle is found. My dance shoes are ready in my dance bag with care. And my mommy has brushed out my fake dancer's hair. In my room I do practice one more time before bed. A plié, then tendu, now I must rest my head. I am dreaming of solo's, center stage, and spotlights. Wish us luck at recital, and to all a good night!

Everything I Learned, I Learned at a Dance Recital

It’s dance recital season — that amazing time of the year where parents, grandparents, and the bravest of family friends crowd into high school auditoriums and watch children in what is often one of their very first times on stage. Moms have battle stations with bobby pins and red lipstick, safety pins and hair spray, ready to doll up their children for approximately three minutes of pizzaz, tears, or a little of both.

Why I Pay for Dance Class?

One of my friends asked "Why do you pay so much money and spend so much time running around for your daughter to dance ?" Well I have a confession to make: I don't pay for my daughter's dance lessons. Or her pointe, Jazz & tap shoes. Or her hundreds of costumes. So, if I am not paying for dance , what am I paying for?

How are Recital Costumes Chosen?

Recital costumes …. they conjure up fanciful images of bright-colored tutus, sparkly fabric, bold accessories, and of course, LOTS of sequins! Have you ever wondered how we decide which costumes will be worn by which classes, and with which music and choreography? Here’s a little peek at how that process works!

Recital: What’s the point in all of this?

Sequins and glitter and bows - OH MY! “What is the point of all of this Recital fuss?” Recital is like the “graduation ceremony” of the year where the combination of weekly dance technique, focused performance skills and hard work is celebrated on the big stage. It is not a "come and go" occasion, but rather a show where each dancer can celebrate their own contribution to the full production. We intend for recital to be a special day for families and dancers to take pride in how far their child has grown, and create special memories that they will look back on fondly in future years
