At what age do you start dance and acro classes?

Our Ballet classes start at age 2 with an introduction to classical Ballet using creativity, imagination, role-playing and props. At age 3, students can add Hip Hop, Tap, or Acrobatic Arts class, which is based on five foundational pillars: flexibility, strength, balancing, limbering, and acro. The Creative Arts Preschool Program for ages 2-5 offers a unique opportunity for preschoolers to reach important learning targets through an arts-infused curriculum. Students age 4 and up can take ballet class, tap class, jazz class, hip hop class, acro class, or even audition for our performing company. Our teen dancers can participate in our advanced performing companies, Pointe/Pre-pointe curriculum, Teen Success Series, or National Honor Society for Dance Arts.

What is your curriculum focus?

An intentionally designed dance classroom experience can help promote the growth of physical, emotional, social, and cognitive (brain) development in children. We integrate BrainDance concepts into our weekly curriculum which  facilitates critical brain pathways in the child’s brain (to learn more about brain dance concepts, click HERE.)

To capitalize on the critical experiences in the most formative years, our 3-D Dance staff receives ongoing professional training on how to apply Piaget’s Theory of Cognitive Development in the dance classroom environment to provide the best support to our dance students through developmentally appropriate practices.

Additionally, our proprietary Bloom Growth Mindset Curriculum integrates valuable life lessons such as demonstrating integrity, being a good friend, having a hard work ethic and maintaining a positive attitude. The concepts are taught through “I statements” to help the students internalize the concepts and apply them to a wide range of life experiences. To learn more about how we integrate Child Development Milestones into the Dance Classroom, click an image below.

It has never been more critical for our dancers’ classroom experiences to support cognitive progress, following the significant delays in natural development patterns that have occurred due to pandemic disruptions, resulting in decreased experiences that would have naturally facilitated social, emotional, physical and cognitive maturity.

How much do the classes cost?

We believe in offering a quality program that capitalizes on the intrinsic benefits of a fine arts education. Our pricing structure is designed so that students can pursue multiple interests with discounts for additional classes, and instructors are intentional about infusing important core values and life skills into each student’s dance education.

Since we work within a network of approximately 300 other studio owners affiliated with the More Than Just Great Dancing and YPAD organizations, we are aware of the varied prices of dance education programs.  Many cost variables do exist in the core goals and priorities of each studio. Our goal is to be leaders in the industry for the standards we see as critical to training and nurturing dance students.

Our owners have chosen to make several areas of our program a priority including hiring college graduates and YPAD certified dance educators, providing professional development including Dance Teacher Summit training in California and New York, Progressive Ballet Technique Certification, Acrobatic Arts Certification, Safer Studios Certification, Brain Dance Certification to capitalize on the intrinsic neurological benefits of dance, YPAD certification to ensure our staff is held to the highest standards of emotional and physical safety of our students, More than Just Great Dancing Affiliated License for ongoing industry training and quite a bit more.

One of the investments that is most important to us is our investment into our studio culture and providing the attention, nurturing and intentionality that a positive studio culture requires.  We have found that our priorities align with our families’ goals as well and that they agree with and recognize the value of our investments.

Since the years of childhood are short, our goal is to use dance as a method of developing core values and important life skills so that the benefits of dance go well beyond the classroom and prepare our students to be happy, healthy, successful adults.  These goals, among others, do require resources that we have continued to invest in our students, staff and programs.

You can view our class pricing HERE.

Do you offer sibling discounts?

Yes. Siblings have the opportunity to participate in our dance and acro classes at a discounted rate.

What are the other costs associated with dance classes?

Class Attire is provided upon enrollment and can be viewed HERE. Shoes can be purchased HERE. There are also performance packages available for dancers performing in our Winter Recital and Spring Recital.

Does my dance or acro class meet on the same day/time each week?

Yes. Children thrive in an environment that provides structure and consistency. In order to preserve the quality of the class experience for our students, the class you enroll in should be the class you plan to attend on the same day/time each week.

What credentials do your instructors have?

The dance industry is completely unregulated, which means that anyone can call themselves a dance teacher regardless of their level of training, education or certifications. Most people wouldn’t hire an unlicensed contractor to work in their home, or be satisfied with an unlicensed teacher at their child’s school, and we would advise against trusting an unlicensed dance teacher with your child’s training. The 3-D Dance staff consists of highly trained Youth Protection Advocates in Dance Certified dance education professionals with a variety of credentials including college degrees in dance, child development, and education, along with teaching certifications through the State of Texas, Progressing Ballet Technique, Adaptive Dance Techniques, Acrobatic Arts, and Youth Protection Advocates in Dance certifications, just to name a few. All of our staff members are CPR certified and have passed a national background check.

What can I expect from my child’s first dance class?

We invite you to CLICK HERE to read our blog post about what to expect!

Do you have performing teams?

Yes, we have performing company groups for ages 4 and up. The Goal of the 3-D Dance performing company is to expand the dancer’s world beyond weekly classes by offering a variety of experiences including performances, conventions, workshops, festivals, and competitions. Our performing company curriculum and standards train dancers to emerge as leaders among their peers. We are incredibly proud of our award-winning performance teams.

Can my child try a class before we commit?

Yes! We understand the need to determine if our classes and studio culture are the right fit for your family before making an investment, so there are always opportunities to see if our programs are a good fit for your family and your child:

  1. No risk enrollment:  It is often necessary to secure a spot in the class of your choice in advance since there are only a limited number of spots.  Since payment of the first month’s tuition and enrollment fee is necessary to hold a spot, there is a risk free guarantee that if your child attends the class registered for and it is not a good fit, we will work with you to find an alternate class or provide a 100% refund within 24 hours of attending the first class.
  2. Trial classes:  Trial classes are offered in classes where space is available and the trial class fee is applied to first month’s tuition when a student enrolls following the trial class.
  3. Special events:  Special events are offered throughout the year and provide a great way for families to try the studio prior to enrolling for a weekly class.

Do you have boys at your studio?

Yes. We have boys of all ages at our studio. Our most popular beginner classes for boys are Boys Hip Hop and the Creative Arts Preschool program. We also have boys who train in ballet, tap, musical theater, jazz, hip hop and Performing Company. We welcome boys and enjoy sharing our love of performing with them! Do you have classes for special needs students?

We have several teachers trained in Adaptive Dance techniques for students with various needs and abilities. We work with each child on a case-by-case basis to find the classroom scenario that best fits their needs.

What measures do you take to keep my child safe?

The safety of our dance families is our number one priority and we have numerous safety policies that we enforce to keep our studio an emotionally and physically safe place for families.  In May 2020, 3-D Dance earned a Safer Studios Certification through More Than Just Great Dancing. Safety protocols include wellness checks for staff, enhanced studio cleaning and hand cleaning procedures, specific curricular and facility adjustments and continual parent communication.

3-D Dance is very serious about upholding Child Protection laws and policies within the studio as well as at public performances and in the online arena (website and social media). We have a number of CCTV cameras / viewing windows / parent viewing sessions within the studio rehearsal space which can be seen by parents and family members from the comfort of our waiting area/viewing room/studios.

As the first Y.P.A.D. (Youth Protection Advocates in Dance) Certified Dance Studio in the state of Texas and one of the first in the country, the 3-D Dance owners and staff at 3-D Dance are educated in the negative impact of inappropriate music and costume selection when it comes to performing dance routines and are wholeheartedly committed to ensuring children in all of our dance routines are not subjected to any inappropriate songs or costuming. We recognize that songs with sexist, explicit, violent, racist, homophobic or criminal content may influence our dancers and/or audience and will strive to avoid using such music. We are committed to restricting costumes that project sexuality, contain explicit graphic or sexual content.

When attending performances, rehearsals, events or public appearances, 3-D Dance staff members, dancers and family members are expected to represent the studio in a responsible, ethical, enthusiastic and courteous manner.

For the physical and emotional safety of our dancers, their families, our staff and their families, all 3-D Dance staff and enrolled families are held to a high ethical and moral standard regarding Internet profiles. 3-D Dance does not permit families or staff to post negative comments about staff members, dancers, dance parents, dance families, or any other individual associated with 3-D Dance. Posts that are abusive in nature, harassment, inappropriate posts, comments or photographs, any post threatening or damaging to another person, or illegal, are immediate grounds for dismissal from our programs.

Can I watch my child in their dance class?

Parents may view their child’s class from the classroom viewing windows in each classroom or from the CCTV monitor in the lobby. Occasionally, teachers will invite an “audience” into the classroom so that students can show off what they are learning and gain performance experience.

What is your cancellation policy?

Tuition processes on the 25th of every month for the upcoming month. Let us know via email that you need to cancel your class before the 15th of the month and your next month’s tuition will not process.

What performance opportunities do you offer your students?

We believe that performance experience is one of the foundational pillars of a well-rounded dance education. As a result of our many positive relationships within our community, our students have the opportunity to participate in community performance opportunities throughout the year. We host two annual large-scale stage productions that include our entire studio: Winter Recital (December) and Spring Recital (May).  We also have performing companies that represent 3-D Dance at dance competitions and conventions across the state throughout the year.

In what ways do you communicate important information to parents?

We keep our website updated and accurate so that parents can always find answers there. We also communicate often via email, text messages, and reminder signs throughout the studio.
