A common question we hear from moms of very young preschoolers is, “Is my child developmentally ready for dance class?” Here are some simple ways to measure developmental readiness:

Does he/she walk into studio classroom independently?

Does he/she quietly observe the instructor and other participating children?

Does he/she participate and engage in class activities?

Does he/she understands staying on her spot, and chooses to do so willingly?

If he/she cries in the classroom, are they able to self soothe quickly?

Every child is different. Some young children make require several weeks of consistency before exhibiting most of these behaviors. If after about 4 weeks of consistency, these behaviors have not been established, it may be beneficial to give your child more time to mature on his/her own.
