Each month our dancers will focus on a Dance Concept/Acrobatic Arts Focus and a Bloom Curriculum “I Statement”. Dance concepts are critical to dance education as they are the foundation for all dance. Each Acrobatic Arts Focus will allow our students to continue to build upon their skills and grow. Our Bloom Curriculum intentionally teaches students to utilize a positive inner monologue through “I statements” for the purpose of assuming responsibility for his/her own growth as a person and internally grasping critical concepts. Below are the concepts we’re focusing on in August.

We are continuing our Bloom Curriculum I statement this month of “I can make great choices”. Dancers will be focusing on I am not the choices that I make. We all make mistakes, and we want our dancers to learn that their identity does not depend on one choice.

Our Technical Dance curriculum concept is SIZE. Dancers will learn how to create Big, Medium, and Small shapes in space through age appropriate activities. Size is a critical dance element that is utilized by choreographers to shape the body and create different pictures throughout the dance.

Our Acrobatic Arts focus is LIMBERING. Limbering is flexibility and strength combined to fluidly move between upright and upside-down movement. Acrobatic Arts dancers will be focusing on ball pose, bridges, and extending through the legs and feet while executing all skills.
